The deck of the ‘Carla Lammers’ just before it was laid

Another big project build on the ‘Batavia Wharf’ was this beautiful traditional ‘Lemster Aak‘, a flat-bottom sailing barge used for fishing. I worked on it with a team of others. Here we were laying the teak deck. The aak was called ‘Carla Lammers’ and would be used to sail with visitors and groups. The decking was laid on the 20th of January 2000.

A seaman’s chest which would be sold in the shop on the shipyard. Every sailor used to have one, to store his personal belongings in, and in the lid they would often paint a scene.

This traditional sailor’s chest was another little project I did on the ‘Batavia Wharf’, to sell in the shop there. We regularly made items like this to be sold in the shop.
